Terry Smith is a veteran in the ranks of career artists. His first big show at the age of nine was a complete sellout of his 70 realistic landscapes. Terry's career was off to a strong start, his work honored and widely praised. He spent his youth painting and exhibiting in galleries and fairs throughout Ohio, winning numerous awards in juried art shows. Terry's work has been included in many exhibitions including a 1961 show at The Columbus Museum of Art and is represented in numerous corporate and private art collections.
 
Terry is a graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design. He also studied at Otis Art Institute, UCLA, and The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
 
Terry has traveled to Southeast Asia, Europe, Canada and throughout the United States filling notebooks with color studies in a variety of mediums which he uses to create his unique paintings.
 
In 1963, Terry moved to Southern California where he married and started a family. He began a second very successful career as an illustrator and commercial artist and became an active member of the highly respected Group West.
 
Terry's commercial art has been displayed in shows, exhibitions and has been featured in prestigious publications such as Westways, Art Direction, CA, Graphis, West and Ad Week. He is a longtime member of the Society of Illustrators and the Air Force Artists Club to which he has contributed more than 30 paintings, some of which now hang in the Air Force Academy and at the Pentagon.
 
While working as an illustrator, Terry continued to paint and sell paintings to corporate and private collectors. Now, Terry is once again devoting himself full time to painting.
